The story of our church is one of God going before us and making a way time and time again. We can’t take credit for what He’s done, but instead give Him the glory and follow where He is leading. We have seen His faithfulness on display once again.
As we meet for worship in a high school, we are always on the lookout for a more permananent home. One property that caught our attention was the church building and land at 2924 Fish Hatchery Rd, but it was already in the process of being developed. In December 2018, we had an opportunity to make an offer as the church had closed its doors and the exsisting contract had fallen through.
There are several things that excite us about this building and property. It sits on 3.7 acres of land that allows for plenty of parking and future growth. This property sits central to the greater Madison area and is about a 1/2 mile off the Beltline making it quite accessible. But the greatest part is the opportunity for ministry in the adjacent neighborhood where there are no other churches.
After much prayer, seeking wise counsel, and conversation among our Elders and leaders, we decided to make an offer.
We heard back in early January that our offer was accepted! We have some sprucing and refreshing to do and hope to begin meeting there before the end of the spring. We are in our due diligence period as we move toward closing at which point we will be the owners of our new church home.
While the Church is made up of people and does not need a building to exist, we recognize a building is a useful tool to use for ministry and we’re excited about those possibilities!
This whole process has been preceded and propelled by prayer. It is no coincidence that on a Tuesday we had a church-wide prayer meeting and the following Thursday were made aware the building was available. God moves when his people humble themselves and cry out to Him. Here are a few things that you can commit to pray for:
- People: pray for our hearts to be humble as we enter a new neighborhood. Pray for the people in the neighborhood that we want to bless and live life with.
- Provision: pray that God provides the finances needed to move in and complete the updates needed.
- Process: pray for the closing process that it would be smooth and completed quickly.
- Projects: pray for the projects needed to be completed and that we would come closer together as a church family as we work together.
We have a goal of raising $325,000 in order to pay for the down payment and any move-in preparation that will be needed. As we were preparing to launch the church just 17 months ago, we often said of the people in our core team “we get the chance to be the few who sacrifice much so that many will be blessed”.
